The Features & Qualities of the Best Cornhole Boards
Here at Slick Woody’s, we put quality and performance before anything else. There are plenty of places to get cornhole boards and cornhole accessories around the country, but there are not many places that think through the user experience like we do at Slick Woody’s.
We prefer to put ourselves in the shoes of our end customer. Because we are all cornhole players ourselves, we are always thinking of ideas to make the game better and ensure we offer the best cornhole boards.
The Frame
All of our board frames are made with 1” by 4” hardwood poplar. Our wood is computer-cut to ensure the finest cuts, and put together using pocket screws to hide all hardware. This creates a smooth, clean, and professional look that people admire about our boards.
We add a built-in back-brace on all of our boards to prevent bags from having too much bounce when they land. This brace is a signature feature on our boards and makes for a much greater playing experience.
As you might know, cornhole boards can be very tough to carry around. Because of this, we decided to cut two handles into the frame of the boards to ensure an easy way to carry and transport your boards.
The Board Top
Our board tops are the best in the industry. We use ⅝” high grade wood to make our tournament board tops. It is a durable and perfect surface for playing cornhole. High grade wood is the smoothest and flattest plywood on the market and makes for a great playing experience.
We use a proprietary process where we adhere a vinyl layer to the tops of our boards. After this layer is added to the board top, we can then print any stock or custom image onto the board. UV inks are used when printing on any of our boards to ensure the sun does not fade images and artwork after prolonged exposure.
Lacquers and varnishes are not used here at Slick Woody’s. The reason being is the idea that no matter what the temperature or humidity is outside, your board will still have the same consistent play. Hot, cold, wet, or dry, no matter what, your board will provide the same type of experience, which is something you can’t find anywhere else.
Board Legs
We use two simple bolts on the legs to make sure there is an easy-to-use pull out system. We have a support crossbar to help support the legs and keep your boards sturdy throughout an entire game.
Our boards can hold quite a bit of weight and it will be very hard for you to collapse a board (unless you decide to pull a semi-truck on top of them).
Our competitors’ board legs are not connected with a support crossbar like ours. This can make it more difficult than needed to set up your boards; not to mention the risk of your boards collapsing.
Our experience buying from the top competitors in our industry
As I mentioned before, the number one thing we care about here at Slick Woody’s is the quality of our boards and the user experience when playing cornhole on them.
We decided to buy a few sets of boards from the top competitors and players in our industry, and what we found out was astonishing to say the least.
The pictures shown are from the top company in the cornhole industry. The boards we ordered from them looked like they were thrown together in a very short period of time. The paint around the inside of the hole was smeared, the wood was chipping off on the bottom of the frame (unlike our pocket screws), and there were no handles either. No handles, really?
The paint job was average to say the least. It didn’t seem like they used UV inks, meaning that long exposure to the sun would make these boards fade.
To be honest, the boards looked like they were thrown together by someone in a garage who didn’t have much time.
