In this piece we discuss the process of taking your ideas and turning them into your very own custom cornhole boards. You will see the steps that are taken and what goes into creating your final product.

The process in which an artist takes to come up with custom artwork, as opposed to generic, is much more time consuming. Hence the cost in price differences.

How Much Does A Cornhole Set Cost?

When creating custom artwork for a client/customer there are major steps in the process to coming up with a quality final product.

  • Research phase (finding images or other designs of inspiration)
  • Concept phase (idea stage)
  • Refining phase (cleaning up and selecting which design(s) stand out most to you)
  • Final phase

What kind of art style are you looking for? Do you have an image in your head that you want to bring to life? What are some adjectives that best describe the feeling you want to portray? These are just a few questions and artist might ask while gathering information about the custom design. It is also helpful for the artist if you send him/her photos or perhaps links to websites that you prefer. This way the artist has an idea of the look and feel of what you are looking for. Once the artist has a number of ideas and a clear path of what the customer wants, they then can move on to the next step in the process.

    Concept Phase

This is what some artists enjoy the most in the creative process. In this stage there are no set limits. The artist is free to use the information provided by the customer and collected in the research phase to start creating. These designs are meant to be “A little out there.” Sometimes the best designs come from really far outside the box thinking.

Usually a few different variations of designs are born during this process. This way you get a chance to see certain aspect of your designs portrayed in different ways. Usually you can see different color combinations or sizes of your designs.

Refining PhaseSlick Woody's Cornhole board graphic artist

In this phase of the process, the ideas and sketches from the concept phase come back to reality. This is the part where the customer gets to decide which sketch(es) they like the best. After the selections are made, the artist will then go into another, smaller more refined, conceptual stage. This part of the process usually takes the longest. There can be multiple times where an artist must continue to keep refining until a rough look of the final product is achieved and made to the customer’s liking.

    Final Phase

This is where it all comes together. Now that the rough look of the final is created the artist can then begin using whatever kind of media is going to be used for the final product. An example of one style is a final digital product. In most cases today the media most used for a final product is through digital design.

Turning Your Final Artwork Into A Custom Cornhole Set

Now that you have taken the journey with the artist, and you now have the artwork you wanted it’s time to turn it into a custom cornhole board. Once you approve the created artwork, it is then sent into production where the art needs to be applied to the boards. There are different ways to decorate your boards (Types of Cornhole Board Finishes: Stickers vs. Print vs. Paint), but when a digital file is created it must be printed in some form, whether it be a vinyl wrap or direct to the board.

Last, now that your boards are completed and you have that one of a kind look and feel to your cornhole set, it’s time to choose your bags. Normally a set of classic corn filled bags will come with the boards and you can choose what colors you want.
